Getting Around San Francisco

  • Rent a Car for Day Trips

Can we just say it? Cars are difficult in San Francisco. Parking garages are expensive and street parking is hard to find. But if you’re venturing outside the City, rent a car, put the windows down, and hug the curves along the coast or through our golden hills. We highly recommend the Fisherman’s Wharf Enterprise - our friends there will take good care of you. Enter “Angela Benedict’ in the concierge field so they know we sent you!

  • Ride The Cable Car

The classic image of San Francisco always includes a cable car, and everybody should ride it once! Walk to the turnaround at Beach and Hyde and take the Cable Car over the hill to the famous curves of Lombard Street. If you’ve got the stamina, walk down Lombard and back up to catch the next Cable Car to Union Square. Tickets here.

  • Private City Tour

If you’re not into crowds, hopping on or off busses, hill-climbing or hangry backseat drivers (did we say parking in San Francisco is a challenge?)… Let’s set you up with a private City Tour. Our private drivers can take you on a custom sightseeing adventure - hitting all the highlights of the City and any of your personal must-sees — all in the comfort of a spacious, luxury class SUV. Book your tour here on our partner Rezgo site.

  • The SF Water Taxi

There’s a water taxi stop just a few steps from the Argonaut’s front door — and it goes along the waterfront, all the way to Chase Center! You can hop on and hop off for dinner, a Giants or Warriors game, or just for fun! It’s cheap and a lot less hassle than parking! Learn More on the San Francisco Water Taxi page. (You might want to call them to make a reservation.)

  • Hop-On Hop-Off

The Big Bus is a fantastic way to get around San Francisco. Get a little history as you ride, and hop off to explore major landmarks, knowing there’s another bus in just 15-30 minutes (depending on traffic). It’s safe, clean, efficient — and there’s no better way to get views from the Golden Gate bridge than the top deck of the Big Bus! Learn More about Big Bus Tours.

  • Take the Muni!

Travel like a local and see the City by MUNI. Download the MUNI App to buy tickets, trip planners and maps. It’s economical and relatively easy to figure out. Pro tip: Leave plenty of room in your itinerary if you’re taking the MUNI.
